This factory oil cooler was standard in all Type-1 engines with 1200 up to 1600 cc displacement up to 1970 and in 1200s from '71 onwards. It is the cooler that is located in the fan shroud.
We recommend replacing the oil cooler with every freshly build motor or with every used engine, whose history is unknown. This prevents residues and/or chips from getting into the oil circuit and damaging the new or overhauled engine.
